Description of volunteer roles:

Contribute In-Kind Items

We have limited capacity of staff and storage, and all donations will need prior approval. We do appreciate donations of NEW clothing, toys for all ages, diapers, blankets, kitchen supplies, basic supplies for the home and personal hygiene, school supplies, and other items that can be delivered to families.

We also distribute food to families every week and we need volunteers to help bring in donated produce and food. Food must be approved by License to Freedom prior to dropping off the food.

Fundraising

Philanthropy is the fuel of License to Freedom and it is essential to mission delivery. We are seeking volunteers to join our Fundraising Committee to help us plan small fundraising events throughout the year. If you have a desire to host fundraisers on your own and have a network of family and friends who can help you raise money we would like you to be part of our fundraising volunteers!

Translators

License to Freedom is always seeking volunteers to help us communicate effectively with our clients. We are seeking volunteers who speak the following languages: Farsi, Arabic, Pashto, Russian, Somali, Haitian-Creole, Amharic, Neur, Tigrinyna, French.

Other skills

We are always looking for additional help in supporting our community with job placements, resume writing, supporting entrepreneurs with their new businesses, preparing families for citizenship, provide group and individual English tutoring lessons

Agreements & Commitments

Volunteers will be required to go through Live Scan/Background Check. License to Freedom work with clients of all ages that have endured many hardships and experienced trauma. We take priority in ensuring that our community feels safe with our staff and volunteers. *

Unless you are only interested in donating items, we request that our volunteers commit to 6 months. *

I understand that (i) I am not an employee of License to Freedom (ii) that I will not be paid for my participation, and (iii) I am not covered by or eligible for any insurance, health care, worker's compensation, or other benefits from License to Freedom. *

As a volunteer with License to Freedom, I agree to represent the organization with professionalism, respect, and compassion at all times. I will treat the families we serve, fellow volunteers, staff, and members of the public with courtesy and dignity. When assigned to a specific task or event, I will make every effort to be punctual, dependable, and responsive to the guidance provided by the Volunteer Coordinator or designated staff. *

As a volunteer with License to Freedom, I understand that I must obtain clear permission from each family member before taking any photos or videos during in-person visits. For children under 18, consent must come from a parent or guardian. In addition, separate permission is required before sharing or publishing these images—whether online, on social media, or privately through text or other platforms. Families always have the right to change their minds and request that images be removed, even after previously granting consent. Volunteers are expected to respect these wishes and take all reasonable steps to honor the privacy and preferences of the families we serve. *
