Human Rights and Legal Aid

Rebuilding Lives with Dignity

Shelter, Legal Aid & Pathways to Independence

License to Freedom supports an average of 300 individuals each year who are experiencing domestic violence, stalking, sexual assault, human trafficking, and dating violence. We provide comprehensive, survivor-centered legal and advocacy services, including free legal representation by licensed attorneys for restraining orders, divorce, and child custody cases.

Our services also include crisis intervention, safety planning, counseling referrals, court accompaniment, assistance with public benefits, and multilingual advocacy to ensure survivors can safely access support regardless of language or immigration status. In addition, License to Freedom operates a 52-week Domestic Violence Offender Program for men referred by the courts or Child Protective Services, focused on accountability and behavior change.

Through our shelter initiative, Project Home, we provide survivors with safe, stable housing by covering rent and furnishing homes for up to one year, supporting long-term safety and independence.
