Domestic Violence

Rebuilding Lives with Dignity

Shelter, Legal Aid & Pathways to Independence

License to Freedom provides comprehensive, around-the-clock support for survivors of domestic violence, stalking, sexual assault, human trafficking, and dating violence. Our dedicated team of advocates and case managers offers personalized care 24/7, including crisis intervention, emotional support, safety planning, and connection to vital resources.

Each year, we support an average of 290 survivors, providing free legal representation for restraining orders and custody cases, as well as court accompaniment and assistance with public benefits. We also support cases on sexual assault, stalking, dating violence, non-intimacy violence and stalking. Survivors also receive access to counseling and multilingual advocacy to ensure culturally responsive care.

Through Project Home, our shelter program, survivors are placed in safe, furnished housing with rent covered and basic needs provided, helping them rebuild stability and independence for up to 12 months. During their stay at Project Home, we support them in finding jobs and/or start a business.

In partnership with local agencies, we also operate a 52-week court-mandated Domestic Violence Offender Program for men referred by the courts or Child Protective Services, addressing root causes of abuse and fostering accountability.
