Afghan Education & Wellness Programs
Our Philosophy
License to Freedom aims to provide survivors a smooth transition by providing lasting support through education and wellness programs. We hope to provide a mindful and healing space for those whose scars are more than skin deep.
The SENA Program: Survival English for Newly Arrived
We are offering survival English classes for new arrivals with a priority focus on Afghan females. Founded by our Board of Directors President—Professor Dr. Huma Ahmed-Ghosh, these classes are aimed at providing a foundation of literacy for Afghan women and children who have not attended school. The classes provide basic English language skills to help clients navigate life in San Diego. These classes are free for Afghan families. We believe that family literacy leads to whole family social and emotional wellness.
With a high demand for classes, we are always looking for volunteers. If you would like to volunteer, please click the “learn more” button below and reach out to us!
We would love to have you. Due to the cultural and religious beliefs of our female clients, we are mainly in need of female volunteers.
S.A.R.A.--- Sewing by Afghan Refugees and Advocacy
License to Freedom’s mission is to support survivors of violence and newly arrived refugees to San Diego with projects that support resettlement and employment opportunities. LTF is collaborating with AHAANA (an Indian NGO in San Diego) to repurpose and up-cycle Indian clothing and sarees to recreate and refabricate stylish clothing such as skirts, scarves, kurtas etc. Our goal is to provide a network of opportunities for self-sufficiency.
